Chapter One: The new Queen
‘’Hello
world! It is me Sunshine Guy!” The radio blared as Poppy swept her blue dress
on. She giggled as she heard the announcements.
“Today Poppy will become the Queen! I will now
turn the time over to Karma.” Poppy looked up as the door opened. DJ Suki raced in with the rest of the
SnackPack right behind.
“Poppy!!!
Are you reeeeeeady to become the new Queeeeeeen???” Guy Diamond asked in his
auto-tone voice. Poppy laughed.
“I believe I
am! Thanks for asking!” He smiled and backed up as Satin and Chenille stepped
forward.
“We made you
the perfect dress!” They held up a beautiful pink dress that was flowing with
ruffles and laces and Poppy gasped.
“I love it
you guys! Thank you!” All of a sudden her pink hugtime bracelet opened. “Oh!
Hugtime!” Everyone gathered together and joined in the most exciting hug…
---Time Switch---
Poppy
grinned as King Peppy, her father, put the beautiful crown on her head. Her
dress flowed beautifully around her feet and she felt very special. The crowd
cheered wildly and Biggie squealed.
“Poppy!!!
She’s my friend! I know her!” Poppy’s smile widened as she saw Branch amongst
the SnackPack. That moment couldn’t have been better. When everything quieted
and Poppy curtsied and spoke.
“Hello,
trolls of Trollsville! I am proud and honored to be your new Queen.” With a
slight glance at Branch, she continued. “I will try my best to keep you all
safe and happy and I am excited to see what life will bring now. Many surprises
I am sure. And we will celebrate my coronation with a huge feast! Everyone is
invited! But for now, let’s party!!!!”
The trolls
all cheered and DJ Suki hit the DJ station. She didn’t hesitate to play the
best song.
“Hair up!
Put your hair in the hair! Hair up! Come on quite it, we don’t care! Hair up!”
Poppy laughed and jumped into the crowd of loving fans.
Later that night, as the party died down,
Branch caught Poppy’s arm. She turned and smiled as she saw him.
“Hi, Branch!
Did you enjoy the party?”
“You know I
did! You looked great.” He smiled a small smile and Poppy returned it. She
wanted to stand there forever, but knew that she had to get the feast ready.
“Are you
coming to the feast? We’ll have cupcakes.” Branch laughed softly. Poppy took this
as a yes and laughed too. She glanced
around cheerfully at the still dancing trolls. DJ Suki was still playing songs
but the trolls didn’t seem to be as enthusiastic so she took the stage again.
“Now who’s
ready to eat???” Every troll cheered. “Good, good! Now everyone settle down and
follow me to the dining room!” One by one, the trolls filed behind her,
bubbling with happiness. As they all sat down, kitchen trolls started to serve
the food.
Arrays of
delicious things were set along the huge table, consisting of berries, sprouts,
meats of some kind, and of course, cupcakes! The trolls all enjoyed their meal
and once they were famished, they left to their houses. Pretty soon, Poppy and
Peppy were alone.
“Thank you,
dad.” Poppy murmured cheerfully. Peppy wrapped his arms around his daughter and
gave her a big bear hug.
“Oh, Poppy.
I know that I can leave my place as King on your shoulders.” Poppy giggled.
“Dad. I am a
Queen. Not a King.” Peppy laughed too and led his daughter to bed.
Chapter Two:
Branch joins the SnackPack
Branch sat
up and glanced around his bunker. He shivered in the pressing cold.
“Baby it’s
cold outside,” He sang softly. His voice rang in the uncomfortable silence and
he felt a bit better. As he walked out preparing to do his daily routine, Poppy
ran up to him. He jumped in surprise.
“Hi Branch!”
Branch stared at her as she handed him an invitation. “You’re invited to our
singing slumber party! What do you say?” He glanced at her unsure. He knew the
SnackPack would be there. But who else?
“Um… Well. I
had some things to do…” She put on her puppy eyes and Branch sighed. “Of
course, I’ll go. Who else is going?”
“Guy
Diamond, DJ Suki, Cooper, Smidge, Biggie, Satin, Chenille, and me.” He smiled.
“See you
then.” He walked away into the forest shaking his head. What was he getting
himself into?
As he was
walking near Bergen town, a flash of color caught his eye. He glanced towards
it and threw a rock at it. The thing yelped with surprise and Branch gasped as
he saw what it was.
“Creek!!!”
Creek tried to run but Branch caught him with his hair. “Why are you here?
Explain yourself or I’ll strangle you!”
“Okay! Okay!
Easy mate!” He wiggled in Branch’s grip. “Do you want the full story?”
“Yes. And
then I’ll bring you to Poppy.” Creek sighed and looked towards Bergen town.
Creek and Chef were
falling down the creatures throat and Creek, before falling into the acid,
stretched his hair and caught the creatures’ uvula. Chef got mad at this and
caught Creek by the leg, saying.
“If I die, then so do you!” Creek was getting very
stretched out and his grip on the uvula was weakening. He slipped some ways and
almost fell in the acid with Chef. The creatures throat was feeling very itchy
and it wanted them out, NOW!!! It coughed once, twice, then three times. On the
fourth time, Chef and Creek were coughed onto the ground roughly.
Chef then tried to grab Creek.
“Don’t eat me! Please! I’ll do anything! You know I will!”
He cried desperately. Somehow, he got away and ran off into the forest, away
from Bergen town.
“And that is
where I ran into you.” Branch was thoughtful for a moment.
“Sooo… Is
Chef still after you?” Creek shook his head.
“She fell
into a hole and I ran the opposite way. I doubt I’ll be safe forever.” Branch
got angry again.
“You sold us
out!” Creek ducked away from Branch’s thrown punch.
“Calm down
mate! Calm down!” Branch suddenly noticed something. He calmed down and threw
Creek to the ground roughly.
“Chef will
find us. She will never give up. I’ve got to tell Poppy and you’re coming with
me!” Creek hung his head and allowed Branch to drag him away.
Back in
Trollsville, the SnackPack was buzzing with excitement for the upcoming night.
They looked over and gaped with surprise as they saw Branch.
“CREEK!!!”
Branch rolled his eyes and shoved Creek forward as he tried to shrink away.
Guy Diamond
stepped forward.
“You found
the traitor!” Creek flinched and tried to reason with him.
“Please,
everyone! Remain calm! I am very sorry for what I did.” DJ Suki rolled her
eyes.
“What makes
you think we’ll fall for that?” Creek hung his head and Branch saw guilt in his
purple eyes.
“Please?” The
SnackPack shook their heads and Broke apart as Poppy came forth.
“Creek?
You’re alive? Explain yourself. Now.” Branch thought about Creek’s story as the
purple troll explained. Creek was very quick witted and smart. It wasn’t a
great idea to let the traitor free. Satin stepped forward.
“What do we
do with him?” She asked, poking Creek. Chenille nodded.
“We can’t
just forgive him.”
“Can’t we?”
Poppy asked, sadly. Branch and the rest of the SnackPack shook their heads.
“We should
lock him up.” Branch suggested.
“And make
him do our work?” Cooper asked. Poppy shook her head.
“He just
made a mistake. That’s all.” Branch took her by the arm, not releasing the grip
on Creek.
“Poppy. He
sold us out. He sold you out. He deserves a punishment to prove he is really
sorry.” Branch could already tell that Creek was sorry, but he felt like he
still needed some proving to do. Poppy nodded.
“I agree
with Branch.” She turned to Creek. “I, as Queen, sentence you to…” Smidge spoke
up in her deep voice.
“DEATH!!!” Every troll looked at her and bit their lips.
Branch wished that was what was going to happen. Poppy hardly smiled.
“As I was going to say… I, as Queen, sentence you to
imprisonment! And for your first chore, I give you the chance to empty every
garbage in Trollsville.” Branch folded his arms.
“Someone has to assist him, Poppy.” Poppy nodded and turned
to Branch.
“You will assist him.” Branch gasped.
“What??? Poppy! I have things to do! I can’t follow Creek
through…. Okay fine.” He pushed the moping Creek forward and left the smirking
Poppy behind with the SnackPack.
Later in the first house, Branch turned to Creek.
“Alright traitor. Empty them out. Don’t expect me to be
sympathetic.” Creek nodded and got to work. After the first seven houses, Creek
cleared about twenty-five garbage cans and washed them afterwards. He was
looking very miserable, and Branch beamed.
“Are you enjoying your punishment?” Creek looked up and
merrily shook his head.
“I do not enjoy this. But I am willing to do this to prove
myself worthy of staying alive.” Right then, the trolls in the house started
singing.
“Staying alive, staying alive. Ahahahah! Staying alive!!!”
Creek frowned at them and continued with his work.
That night, after Branch locked Creek in the cage, it was
time for the slumber party! Branch sighed as he walked towards Poppy’s door. He
knocked and it was answered by Cooper and Guy Diamond.
“Branch!!! Celebrate good times, c’mon!” They sang
cheerfully. Branch rolled his eyes and looked away from their hopeful
expressions.
“It’s a celebration!” Poppy sang, walking over to invite
Branch in. “Hey! Glad you made it Branch! This is gonna be the best slumber
party ever! Don’t you think?”
“You bet, Poppy my girl!” DJ Suki jumped up from the beanbag
chair she was sitting in.
“Let’s get this party started!” Every troll cheered. Branch
closed the door behind him and took his seat next to Smidge.
“Alright! Who’s going first?” Poppy called, holding out the
microphone. Guy Diamond jumped up.
“Me, me, me!!!” He shouted. Poppy tossed the mic to him and
he caught it.
“Okay, GD! Hit it!!!” DJ Suki cheered. He began to sing in
his cute voice and as he got to the chorus, DJ Suki pitched in.
“Shine bright!” DJ Suki sang.
“Tonight!”
Guy Diamond sang.
“You and I!”
“Are beautiful, like DIAMONDS in the
sky!” Guy Diamonds voice went auto-tone as
he sang diamonds and everyone cheered. Branch had to admit it
was very good.
“Shining bright like a DIAMOND. Shining
bright like a DIAMOND. Shining bright like a DIAMOND. Shining briiiight!!!” DJ Suki hit the spotlight.
“Shine bright! Tonight! You and I! Are
beautiful, like diamonds in the sky!”
At last the song was finished and someone else could have a turn. Cooper hopped
up.
“Ooohhh!
It’s my turn!” He held the microphone with his front feet and began to sing.
“Wish we could turn back time! To the
good old days! When Poppy sang us to sleep, but now we’re stressed out!” Satin and Chenille were next. They sang in
unison which sounded great.
“But first, let me take a selfie!” They finished. DJ Suki passed her turn over
to Poppy. Branch smiled as she took the stage.
“I
have a very special song to sing. And… Here it is!” She whispered the song to
DJ Suki and got ready to sing. The song turned on and Poppy began.
“I really hope I can do it. Cause
they’re all depending on me! I know that I must leave the only home I’ve ever
known, engrave the dangers of the forest, saving them before they’re eaten! I
mean, how hard can that be?”
She
began to play her banjo that she carried with her everywhere. Branch gaped. He
thought he had destroyed that in the fire. Hadn’t he? As soon as Poppy’s song
ceased, Guy Diamond jumped up, facing Branch.
“Your
turn!” All the other trolls chanted with him.
“Branch!”
“Branch!”
“Branch!”
Branch
shook his head and stood up. His legs wobbled and he felt dizzy. He definitely
did not want to sing in front of them again and he thought of the time in the
pot.
Poppy had given up. Branch was standing beside
the trolls who had turned gray with defeat. They were all going to get eaten
and he had no idea what to do. But then he did. He sang.
Branch
took a deep breath. And then he sang. He sang all the way to the chorus, where
he faltered. The SnackPack helped him.
“Cry me a river! What goes around, goes
around, goes around, goes around, And I’m feeling fiiiine!” At the end, Poppy
took Branch’s hand.
“Thanks
for taking a step forward.” Branch smiled and hugged her. She hugged him back.
Smidge gasped.
“Oh My Gosh!” Every troll laughed,
including Branch. Poppy stood up.
“Branch
has officially joined the SnackPack!” Everyone clapped and welcomed their new,
smiling, member.
Chapter
Three: Something goes wrong
Poppy
woke to a sound. It was not a good sound and she panicked when she heard it.
Screams. Loud screams. Many screams.
She
leaped out of bed and ran out. She caught Guy Diamond by the arm as he tried to
run.
“What’s
going on?” He pulled her out of the way as a hand reached down to grab her.
“It’s
Chef!!! She found us!!!” Poppy’s eyes widened as she saw a familiar troll get
lifted off the ground.
“BRAAAAANCH!!!!”
Branch stretched his hair and Poppy caught it with her own. Guy Diamond caught
Poppy’s waist and pulled with her. Chef noticed and, with a wicked grin, she
cut Branch’s hair.
“Nooooo!!!”
His cries of desperation faded away into the breeze as Chef walked away with
the captured trolls. Poppy fell to her knees. DJ Suki and Smidge raced over to
her.
“Are
you okay?” DJ Suki asked.
“Oh My Gosh!” Smidge said. Poppy stood
up with the support of Guy Diamonds shoulder.
“Creek.”
Poppy growled, seethingly. Guy Diamond, Smidge, and DJ Suki exchanged worried
glances. Poppy ignored them and marched to the cage. Creek looked up hopefully
as he saw her.
“You
did this.” She shouted. “It’s all your fault! Branch is gone!” Poppy looked
into Creeks guilty face. “What do you have to say about this?”
“I
have pondered a lot as I was imprisoned in this cage and I am truly sorry. I
will help you get them back if you please.”
“YES!!!
YOU WILL!!!” Poppy screamed. She crumpled to the floor in grief. “I never thought this would happen again.”
She stood up and unlocked Creeks cage. She chained him and brought him into the
crowd of startled trolls.
“Okay
everyone! Calm down! Me and Creek, will go after Chef and get our loved ones
back!” DJ Suki pulled Guy Diamond forward.
“We’re
going too.” She said hurriedly, with a stern glance at Guy Diamond, who nodded
vigorously.
“It’s
dangerous out there.” Poppy hugged them both.
“Thank
you. This means a lot to me.” Facing the crowd, she spoke. “Every troll, stay
in Branch’s bunker until you hear my cowbell. And it will be me.” Creek lowered
his gaze and she laughed.
Peppy stepped forward.
“Please
be careful, Poppy.” She smiled.
“Don’t
worry dad. I got nice friends with me.” She sighed and turned to Guy Diamond
and DJ Suki.
“Ready?”
“You
bet.” DJ Suki said. Guy Diamond smiled and nodded. Poppy took Creeks chains and
left into the forest, with her two friends following.
“Is
this a good idea?” Poppy heard Guy Diamond ask.
“Of
course, it is. We’ll be fine.” DJ Suki answered calmly. Poppy breathed in.
“I really hope I can do it. Cause
they’re all depending on me.” She paused
and nudged Creek who was trailing behind. “Sing.” She urged. He sighed.
“I know that I must leave the only home
I’ve ever known. Engrave the dangers of the forest. Saving them before they’re
eaten.” Poppy took her turn.
“I mean… How hard can that be?” She handed Creeks chains to Guy Diamond and
pulled out her banjo.
“Looking up at a sunny sky. So shiny
and blue and there’s a butterfly. Why isn’t that a super fantastic sight? It’s
gonna be a fantastic day!” She nudged
Creek again and he began where she left off.
“Such marvelousness it’s gonna bring.
I’ve got a pocket full of songs that I’m gonna sing. And I’m ready to take on
anything!” Guy Diamond and DJ Suki cheered.
“HURRAY!!!”
“There’s a super fun surprise around
each corner. Just riding on a rainbow.”
Everyone started singing.
“Hey! We’re not giving up today!
There’s nothing getting in our way! And if you knock knock us over, we will get
back up again! Oh! If something goes a little wrong, well, then go ahead and
bring it on! And if you knock knock us over, we will get back up again.
Woooooooahhhh! Get back up again! Woooooooahhhh”
At
the end of the song, Guy Diamond and DJ Suki set up camp together and the four
trolls went to sleep. Poppy took watch.
“Stars shining bright above you.” She sang, as memories fell over her.
It was night and Poppy was saying goodnight to
all her friends in their pictures. As she came to Creek, she felt sadness wash
over her. It was like, Creek wasn’t who he seemed. Poppy had shrugged the thought
aside and booped his nose, giggling. She went to bed after a slight debate with
Branch and forgot about that feeling. Maybe she shouldn’t have.
Poppy
sighed and looked at the sleeping Creek. She couldn’t believe she hadn’t
thought about it more. Well… That was all over now. It’s not like Branch would
sell the trolls out. He would never. Would he?
Poppy
stared at the dark forest. Weariness crashed over her like a bomb and she
nudged Guy Diamond awake.
“Huh?
What is it?” He asked, looking up at her concerned.
“It’s
your shift.” He sat up and rubbed his eyes.
“Okay.
Rest well, Queen
Poppy.” He sang, softly. Pretty soon, sleep
overcame her.
Chapter
Four: Uh oh!
Branch
was thrown into a cage full of trolls that he didn’t know. Chef grinned down at
them and took out a knife.
“I’ll get my
trusty servants and we’ll have Trollstice! We will finally be happy!” She shouted. A beautiful blue glitter troll
stepped forward.
“Just
eating us will not make you happy!” She scolded. “You may be happy for a day,
but it will wear off and you will want more!” The trolls in the cage murmured
in agreement.
“Yeah!”
“It’ll
wear off!” Chef looked down at them and grinned again.
“Then we’ll have
to capture troll after troll!” She
stalked away and left the trolls in her dark kitchen. Branch slumped against
the cage bars.
“You
are brave Phoebe.” Someone was saying.
“Yeah.
You almost convinced her to let us go.” The blue troll called Phoebe smiled.
Branch noticed that it was the same smile that Poppy had. Poppy’s smile had
enough power to calm a troll in one shot. Phoebe’s smile worked on the other
trolls.
Gradually
they calmed down and became aware of their surroundings. Branch thought.
Poppy must be on her way now. He cocked his head hopefully. She would never
leave a troll behind. Would she?
He got up again and looked around the kitchen. Suddenly the cage was filled
with glitter and laughter. He turned and saw a yellow troll flying by using his
glitter. Everyone was getting showered by his sparkle dust.
“STOP!!!”
Branch yelled, angrily. The trolls turned to face him.
“What’s
wrong Branch?”
“Where
is your happiness?”
Branch
glared at them and turned around again. He wished Poppy would hurry.
“Hurry,
Poppy. I need you…” He whispered.
---Far
away---
Poppy
stopped mid-step. She cocked her head to listen.
“Did
you hear that?” She asked Guy Diamond who had stopped too.
“Nope.
What is it?” He asked in his auto-tune voice. Poppy shook her head.
“I
thought I just heard Branch. Are you sure you didn’t hear it? DJ Suki? Did you
hear it?” DJ Suki shook her head. Poppy looked at Creek. “Did you hear it?”
“To
be honest, Poppy. I think you are just worried. You probably heard nothing.”
“I
didn’t ask for your honesty, Creek. I asked
if you heard it.” He shook his head, looking guilty and hurt.
“I
did not hear it.”
“Great.
Now you can stay quiet.” And the four continued on…
Later
in the day, Poppy heard something else. Was it Branch? It had to be! And he was
in trouble!
“Guys!
We gotta hurry! Come on!” DJ Suki and Guy Diamond looked around, wildly.
“Why
what’s wrong?” Poppy pulled Creek roughly and he began to run with her.
“The
trolls! They’re in trouble!” As they got to Chef’s campsite, Creek was dragging
behind. Guy Diamond and DJ Suki were pushing him along, but he wouldn’t get up.
“This
is a very messed up camp.” Guy Diamond whispered.
“I
know right. It could use a little glitter.” DJ Suki whispered back. He nodded
and stood beside Poppy.
“Which
tent do you think they’re in?” Poppy asked and he shrugged with a worried
expression. Creek stood up and looked around, mutely. Then he pointed to a very
rusty R.V. Poppy nodded and crept towards it. Guy Diamond and DJ Suki
followed. They crawled through a crack
easily and stood looking around the empty R.V.
“You
were wrong Creek…” Poppy whispered, angrily. Creek rolled his eyes, hotly, and pointed to
a window. Poppy smiled and gave his chains to Guy Diamond again. She ran over
to the window and looked out. Chef was standing just below with a fire going.
Chad and Tod were gathered around the fire with her and were holding plates.
Poppy’s
pink eyes flicked to Chef’s bag that was being opened. A troll’s head popped
out and Chef grabbed it.
“Ready to give us
happiness?” She asked it wickedly. It shuttered
in her grip and called out to a blue glitter troll who had been lifted out as
well. The blue troll struggled and yelled at Chef.
“You
will sooo regret this! You are a wicked, wicked, Bergen!” Chef grinned with
pleasure and began to lower the troll into her mouth. Poppy was frozen to the
ground in horror but Guy Diamond took action.
“PHOEBE!!!” He yelled as he jumped
towards Chef. The ugly Bergen snatched him out of the air and DJ Suki leaped
forward.
“Guy
Diamond, nooooo!” She took off Creeks chains while Poppy just stood there doing
nothing, and wound it around both of Chef’s hands, causing her to drop them.
They flew to the ground screaming, but DJ Suki caught them.
Poppy
suddenly snapped out of her daze and ran over to them.
“Are
you okay?” Guy Diamond stood up and then helped Phoebe to her feet.
“We’re
good, thanks.” Phoebe said, shakily. She looked at Chef who had freed herself. “We
need to save them!” Poppy nodded.
''Creek!
Create a distraction!” Creek nodded and ran away. “Guy Diamond, follow him and
use your glitter. DJ Suki, Phoebe, follow me!” She took off running and the
girls followed.
“Hey,
Bergen’s! Look down!!!” Poppy yelled. Chad and Tod looked over and Chef
growled.
“What? Do you want
to get eaten too?”
“Nope.
I just wanted to say, look out!!!” Creek and Guy Diamond jumped out of a bush
and caused a HUGE diversion. Poppy, DJ Suki, and Phoebe, managed to get the bag
away from Chef and run into the safety of the forest.
“Come
on everyone! Out! We’ve got to hurry!” Phoebe said.Everyone followed. Safe from the Bergen's. For now...
