Chapter
Five: Branch sings
DJ
Suki yawned as she walked into her musical house. Pictures of parties were
strewn across the floor and walls. She gently jumped over a pile of C.D.s and
pulled out a scrapbook.
“I’d rather be in love, with you.” She sang as she taped pictures of their
adventure inside. She smiled as she recalled Guy Diamond thanking her.
Guy Diamond had pulled her away from the other
trolls.
“Thank you for saving us. That means a lot to
me.” DJ Suki had shrugged simply.
“It’s fine. Chef doesn’t deserve to be happy.”
Guy Diamond laughed softly.
“Are you sure that that was the reason for your
actions?” DJ Suki had pulled the silver glitter troll into a glittery hug.
“Your welcome…” She murmured.
She
sat up later at 12:56 a.m. and stretched. She fished through her pile of C.D.s
and pulled out a certain C.D. She put it in her stereo bug and climbed into
bed.
“G’night
my little buggy.” She murmured, before falling asleep. The next morning, she
leaped out of bed and ran out. But she had to spin around and relieve the
stereo bug of the C.D. It chittered happily and followed her out.
“Hello,
Poppy!” She called out. “It’s time to get started on that song!” Poppy ran out
with a bounce.
“Yeah!
Let’s do it!” Together, the two friends sat down and pulled out their notepads.
“It
should start with something like this.”
“I wanted to be like you. I wanted everything.” DJ Suki suggested. Poppy nodded, looking
thoughtful.
“The
lyrics are good. How about a different tune?”
“Of
course! You’re the Queen!” After two hours, they finished it. Poppy stood up,
holding the song to her heart.
“I
can’t wait to sing it to him! Of course, he might ignore me. But maybe he
won’t.” DJ Suki nodded.
“It’s
worth a shot, Poppy! You should go for it!” Poppy smiled, thankfully and walked
away. DJ Suki gathered her things and stood up. I can sing a song to… Nah. That’s a
stupid idea. She thought. She climbed on her
stereo bug and left the hall. Out in Trollsville, every troll was getting ready
to leave.
Guy
Diamond ran over with Phoebe.
“Hey,
DJ Suki! How are you?” He sing-songed happily.
“I
am great. How about you?” He glanced at Phoebe before replying.
“I
am good. I just finished packing up my flower and…” He got cut off as the
SnackPack raced over.
“DJ
Suki! Guy Diamond! Come see! I mean hear!” Cooper cried.
“Branch
is singing! “Satin said.
“And
really well too!” Chenille added.
“Oh My Gosh! Awesome!” Smidge cheered. DJ Suki looked at Guy Diamond
and Phoebe.
“Let’s
go!!!” They all followed the SnackPack into the forest. DJ Suki spotted Branch beside a stream
singing his heart out. His voice was soft and clear and DJ Suki looked at the
SnackPack in surprise.
“Cuz I know I can treat you better,
then he can!” He sang, loud enough for the
SnackPack to hear, but quiet enough so no one in Trollsville could hear.
“And any girl like you, deserves a,
gentle man.” A firefly came out and began making
music and sang along with him.
“So why are you wasting time, why are
you wasting crying when you can be with me instead? Cuz I know I can treat you
better… Better then he can!”
He
finished, looking at the cloudy sky.
“That’s
it for today.” He told the firefly. He began to pick up his sticks and walked
away, silently. The SnackPack broke into chatters.
“Did
you hear that?” Biggie asked.
Everyone nodded.
“I
never knew he could sing so well.”
“But
what about in the pot?”
“Or
the slumber party?”
“Yeah.
He sang there.” DJ Suki let out the breath she had been holding in.
“Clearly
that wasn’t his real singing. What do you guys think. Who was he singing about?”
“POPPY!”
The SnackPack burst into giggles and began to walk back to their flowers to
finish packing. Guy Diamond and Cooper, who were already done, sat down to
scrapbook together. DJ Suki decided that she better get Creek to help her pack.
As she walked to the cage, she heard more singing. But it wasn’t Branch…
“Locked in a cage for a really long
tiiiime.
Ooohhh.
Locked in a cage, for a long long tiiime!” DJ Suki listened to the melodic singing and
pieced the puzzle together. It was Creek.
“I know I’ve got the anger of the
burning sun.
Say hold just a minute don’t burn me down.
If you burn me down, you’ll never find your
way, if you burn me down.
It’s true. A little drop of dreams.
Locked in a cage, for a really long tiiime.
Ooohhh!
Locked in a cage for a long long tiiiime!
Locked in a cage, for a really long tiiiime!
Ooohhh!
Locked in a cage, for a long long tiiime!
Ooooh. Ooooh. Locked in a cage!
Locked in, locked in, locked in, locked in a
cage!” DJ Suki stepped out as the song
ended. Creek jumped as he saw her.
“Oh,
hi, mate.” He spluttered. “Did you hear that?” DJ Suki nodded and unlocked the
cage.
“Come
on and help me pack up my flower.” He nodded and walked out. DJ Suki chained him
up and headed to her flower. When they entered, Creek gasped. He looked around
the filthy flower and dropped to his knees.
“What
happened in here, mate?” DJ Suki laughed.
“My
stereo bugs knew you were gonna come clean and they decided to be messy today.
So… Get to work!” Creek groaned and started picking up C.Ds and putting them
in boxes. DJ Suki hummed
Branch’s song
as she packed her things.
“Hey,
Creek. Do you love Poppy?” She asked innocently. Creek rolled his eyes but then
seeing DJ Suki looking at him, smiled calmly.
“She’s
a great girl. Really optimistic.” He said honestly. DJ Suki recalled Branch’s
lyrics and frowned. Two boys loved Poppy and Poppy loved them both in return.
What was going to happen?
She shrugged and returned to her work. She was gonna
have to help Poppy find the perfect choice.
Whoever that was.
